While I don’t follow hip hop music as closely as some of my colleagues, I do like to keep up to knowledge with hip hop dancing. It’s all kind of underground (well until they make it onto TV) and you don’t have to shell out a bucket load to attend the shows where the best dance groups perform. And if you’re feeling inspired you can always give it a go yourself, many of the people you watch there up onstage are actually dance teachers themselves.
